Okra Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (46 oz.) can tomato juice (Campbell's or Heinz)
    3/4 lb. bacon (3/4-inch slices)
    2 medium onions, chopped
    1 tsp. cayenne pepper
    3 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1 lb. okra (fresh or frozen, 1/2-inch slices)
Preparation
    Cook bacon in Dutch oven until about done.
    Add chopped onion. Cook until transparent.
    Add tomato juice.
    Cook to a slow boil. Add cayenne pepper and stir well.
    Add okra.
    Simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally from bottom.
    Add brown sugar and simmer 5 minutes.
    Skim off excess grease.
    Freezes well.
