Amish Vanilla Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1/4 c. dark corn syrup
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. water
    1 c. unsifted flour
    1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. butter or regular margarine
    1 unbaked (9-inch) pie shell
Preparation
    Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, corn syrup, vanilla and egg in 2-quart saucepan.
    Slowly stir in water.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil.
    Let cool.
    Combine 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and butter.
    Mix until crumbly.
    Pour cooled mixture into pie shell; top with crumbs.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven 40 minutes or until golden brown.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
