Microwave Almond Crunch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. dark corn syrup
    1 c. butter
    1 c. slivered almonds
Preparation
    Combine
    sugar,
    water,
    corn
    syrup
    and butter in a 2 quart glass
    mixing bowl.
    Microwave, uncovered, for 18 to 20 minutes on
    Full
    power
    or until candy thermometer registers 290\u00b0, stirring every 5 minutes.
    Using the cold water method, it
    should form
    a
    soft crack consistency.
    Stir in almonds. Pour at
    once onto a buttered cookie sheet.
    Cool.
    Break into pieces.
    Makes 1 1/2 pounds.
