Granny Williams' Virginia Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    whole cucumbers
    noniodized salt
    alum
    sugar
    vinegar
    pickling spices
Preparation
    Day 1:
    Use whole cucumbers at first.
    Wash and place in a stone jar.
    Cover with a hot brine made by using 1 pint of salt to 1 gallon of boiling water.
    Weight down and let stand for 6 days.
