Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. shortening
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 1/2 c. flour
    4 eggs
    1/2 Tbsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. hot water
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 Tbsp. pure lemon extract
Preparation
    Cream shortening well.
    Sift flour and sugar 3 times.
    Add gradually to shortening, creaming well.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
    Mix soda and hot water in cup and add to buttermilk.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk mixture to creamed mixture.
    Add flavoring and beat well.
    Pour into greased tube pan.
    Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 300\u00b0.
