Boiled Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. boiling water
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
    2 egg whites, beaten stiff
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar, boiling water, salt and cream of tartar in saucepan.
    Stir until sugar is dissolved.
    Boil to 230\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Pour sugar mixture slowly into egg whites, beating constantly.
    Add vanilla and beat until thick and creamy.
    Frosts 2 (9-inch) layers.
