Walnut Grove Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/3 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2/3 c. water
    dash of salt
    2/3 c. chopped walnuts
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. semi-sweet chocolate
    2/3 c. chopped walnuts (again)
Preparation
    Butter a metal cookie sheet.
    Combine butter, sugar, water and salt in a heavy 1 1/2-quart saucepan.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
    Cook, without stirring, until mixture reaches 236\u00b0 (soft ball stage).
    Stir in 2/3 cup walnuts.
    Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches 290\u00b0.
    Remove from heat.
    Add soda.
    Spread on cookie sheet.
    Spread to 1/4-inch thickness with a greased spatula.
    Sprinkle chips over top of toffee.
    Let soften.
    Spread evenly over surface of candy.
    Quickly sprinkle with other 2/3 cup walnuts.
    Cool several hours.
    Break into pieces.
