Soft Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. white sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. melted lard
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    3/4 tsp. cloves
    3/4 c. hot water
    3 tsp. soda in water
Preparation
    Mix well and chill 2 to 3 hours.
    Roll 1/4 inch thick or more.
    Bake 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes. With no refrigeration at the time, this was mostly a winter cookie. We would chill it over night and cook the next day.
    Also, this cookie is high in energy.
