Yum Yum Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. crushed pineapple
    juice of 1 lemon
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    2 pkg. Knox gelatine
    1/2 pt. whipped cream
    1/2 c. grated American cheese
Preparation
    Mix gelatin and water.
    Let stand 10 minutes.
    Heat pineapple, lemon juice and sugar in a saucepan until sugar dissolves.
    Stir in gelatin while pineapple mixture is still hot.
    Pour mixture in a 9 x 9-inch dish and put in freezer until the mixture starts to harden around the corners.
    If it sets up too much, salad will be lumpy.
    Add whipped cream and grated cheese.
    Stir everything together and then smooth the surface with a spatula.
    The salad will congeal into a firm, creamy dish.
    Cut and serve.
