Pineapple Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    60 Ritz crackers
    1/4 lb. butter, melted
    8 eggs, separated
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 (No. 2) can crushed pineapple
    1 small box lemon Jell-O
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Crush crackers and mix with melted butter.
    Line bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan with 2/3 of this mixture.
    Beat egg yolks until light. Add 3/4 cup of the sugar and pineapple, including juice.
    Bring to a boil (2 or 3 minutes).
    Remove from heat.
    Add Jell-O.
    Stir well.
    Cool.
    Beat egg whites stiff with 3/4 cup sugar.
    Add vanilla.
    Fold into cooled egg yolk mixture.
    Pour into pan. Cover with remaining crumbs.
    Chill 24 hours or overnight.
