Fruit Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter, softened
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1 pt. sized can any kind fruit, drained (peaches are good)
    juice from fruit (1 c. or less)
Preparation
    Cream soft butter and 1/2 cup sugar.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together over creamed mixture.
    Stir in milk and beat until smooth.
    Pour into the bottom of a 2-inch deep, long or square baking dish.
    Lay fruit over the batter.
    Sprinkle 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar over the fruit, then pour 1 cup juice over all.
    Do not stir.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    Batter will be thick and rise over fruit.
