Danish Apple Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
milk
1 to 1 1/2 c. cornflakes, slightly crushed
8 to 10 apples, peeled and sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white
Preparation

Mix flour and salt and cut in shortening.
Blend egg yolk in measuring cup.
Add enough milk to make 2/3 cup of liquid.
Add to flour mixture. Roll half of dough to 17 x 12-inch rectangle.
Fit into jelly roll pan, bringing up the sides.
Place cornflakes on top of pastry.
Add apples.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll the other half of the dough to a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch rectangle and place over top. Crimp edges together. Whip egg white until frothy and spread over dough. Bake 1 hour at 400\u00b0.
Frost with powdered sugar glaze.
