Country Fried Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 lb. round steak (tenderize)
    4 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    3 (16 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes
    4 large carrots, sliced round
    2 3/4 c. flour (discard extra)
    1/4 c. oil
    1/8 tsp. salt and spice
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 large onions, sliced
    2 to 4 c. water (add as needed)
Preparation
    Cut meat into steaks (approximately 8 portions).
    Coat meat with beaten egg; then flour.
    In electric skillet, season meat while browning on both sides.
    (Use high heat - do not scorch.) Pour meat and drippings into 8-quart stew pot.
    Add tomatoes, carrots, onions, black pepper and 2 cups water (more as necessary). Salt, pepper and garlic to taste.
    Cover and stew on medium heat for 2 1/2 hours; stir frequently.
    Do not allow all water to cook out.
    Serve over or with mashed potatoes.
