French Apple Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. shortening
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg yolk, beaten
    2/3 c. milk
    1 can apple pie filling
    butter
Preparation
    Mix flour, shortening, sugar and salt.
    Blend in egg yolk and milk.
    Roll out 1/2 of the dough to fit bottom of jelly roll pan. Spread with pie filling and dot with butter.
    Cover with top crust and brush with egg white.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
    Glaze with powdered sugar icing.
    Makes 40 (2-inch) squares.
