Thumbprints - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix
shortening, egg, brown sugar and vanilla together. Add sifted
flour
and\tsalt
to
creamed mixture.
Roll into balls. Dip
in
slightly
beaten
egg whites.
Roll in finely chopped nuts.
Place
1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake\tfor
5 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Remove from oven; place thumbprint in
center. Bake for 8 more minutes.
Cool.
Thumbprint may be filled with jam.
