Ingredients

1 1/4 c. self-rising flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar (optional)
1 egg, well beaten
Preparation

Cream shortening and peanut butter together.
Gradually add the sugar and cream thoroughly.
Add the egg, then the flour. Form into the balls and place on a lightly greased baking pan. Flatten with a fork dipped into flour.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies.
