Mammaw'S Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    large sweet onions (Vidalias work best)
    milk
    self-rising flour
Preparation
    Slice onions and separate into rings (about 3/8-inch thick). Soak rings in a bowl of milk for 1 hour (use enough milk to cover rings).
    Remove the rings from the milk and set aside in another bowl.
    To milk, add enough flour until you have a thick batter (thick enough to really stick to rings).
    Dip each ring into the batter until well coated.
    Fry in deep fryer (oil hot) until golden brown.
    Drain on paper towels.
