Penuche Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. packed brown sugar
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/4 c. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt and milk.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and mixture bonds. Continue cooking until soft ball stage (236\u00b0).
    Stir frequently after mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat.
    Add butter and vanilla.
    Cool without stirring until lukewarm.
    Add nuts.
    Beat until mixture loses its gloss.
    Pour into buttered 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Cool and cut.
    Makes 36 pieces.
