Baccala(Codfish) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. frozen cod fillets
    1/2 lb. butter
    1/2 c. oil
    1/3 c. onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    1 1/2 c. canned tomatoes with juice
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    In a large 3-quart heavy saucepan, place butter and oil.
    Heat until butter melts.
    Add remaining ingredients except codfish. Bring to boil.
    Reduce heat and add fish, partially thawed and cut into 1 to 1 1/2-inch cubes.
    Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Serve over hot polenta or potatoes.
