Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. yellow corn meal
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion salt
1 well beaten egg (duck eggs best), added to dry stuff
1 c. buttermilk (enough to bring to proper thickness)
chopped shallot or green onion to taste (about 1/2 c.)

Preparation

Drop into medium hot deep fat fryer with teaspoon and finger.
