Jewish Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. unsifted flour
    2 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. Crisco oil
    4 eggs
    1/2 c. orange juice
    2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    5 to 8 large apples
Preparation
    Beat all ingredients, except apples, together until smooth. Have apples sliced and peeled in a dish.
    Combine 2/3 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
    Pour 1/2 of batter into a 10-inch pan that is greased and floured.
    Put sliced apples around, then sprinkle with 1/2 of the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
    Pour rest of batter.
    Make another layer of sliced apples.
    Sprinkle with remaining sugar and cinnamon mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
