Yuletide Toffee Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/3 c. shortening
2 c. quick oats
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. corn syrup
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1/2 to 3/4 c. toffee bits

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
Mix together shortening, oats, brown sugar, corn syrup, salt and vanilla and spread in well greased 13 x 9-inch pan (no larger).
Bake 10 minutes being careful not to overbake.
