Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 medium onions, sliced
    1 green pepper (optional)
    1 sweet pepper (optional)
    1/3 c. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    3 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Put salt and 2 trays of ice cubes on cucumbers, onions and peppers.
    Cover with cold water.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Put on sugar, vinegar and spices.
    Heat just to the boiling point. Put in hot jars and seal.
    Makes 8 pints.
