Cajun Sweet Hot Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. whole dill or sour pickles
    5 lb. sugar
    3 cinnamon sticks per layer, broken
    4 or 5 slices garlic per layer
    1/2 tsp. red pepper seeds per layer (pizza pepper)
Preparation
    Drain juice off pickles and discard.
    Slice pickles into thick slices.
    Layer pickles, sugar, pepper, cinnamon and garlic in 4 to 6 layers back in jar.
    (Use a potato masher to push them down; they will all fit back in.)
    Replace lid.
    Seal tightly.
    Turn upside down and leave 12 hours; turn up and down every 12 hours for 6 days.
    Store in refrigerator.
    They will make their own juice; don't add any liquid.
