Deep Peach Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 to 10 peaches, sliced
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 egg, well beaten
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add well beaten egg and beat thoroughly.
    Mix and sift dry ingredients, then add alternately with the milk to creamed mixture.
    Fill the buttered baking dish (a deep dish) with the sliced peaches.
    Pour batter over the peaches and bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 1 hour.
    Serve warm with whipped cream.
