Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. Karo syrup
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp.vanilla
    patience
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    In a 2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, syrup, salt and water. Cook to hard ball stage (260\u00b0); stir only until sugar dissolves. It will take 8 to 10 minutes to reach hard ball stage.
    I use a thermometer to monitor temperature and cold water to test after it reaches 250\u00b0 to make doubly sure it's at the right stage.
