Apricot Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter or oleo
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/3 c. coconut
    1/2 c. chopped nuts (if desired)
    1 (12 oz.) jar apricot preserves
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add egg and vanilla.
    Combine flour and baking powder and add to creamed mixture.
    Add coconut and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Press 2/3 mixture into greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread with preserves.
    Crumble remaining dough over top.
    If mixture isn't crumbly enough, I add some more sugar and flour Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
    Cool and cut.
