Toffee Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. real butter
    1 lb. brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. chopped almonds
    8 plain Hershey bars, unwrapped
Preparation
    In a heavy saucepan melt butter and sugar.
    Stir constantly until candy thermometer reaches 290\u00b0 (watch carefully to prevent scorching).
    Remove from heat; add soda and stir.
    Pour in a thin ribbon quickly over 2 cookie sheets.
    Immediately top with Hershey bars, they soften and can be spread with a spatula.
    Cool and chocolate hardens.
    Break into pieces.
    Store in an airtight container.
