Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stewing chicken (4 to 5 lb.)
    1 small onion
    1 carrot
    2 celery stalks with leaves
    1 tsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Simmer chicken, onion, carrot, celery, salt and bay leaf in 8 cups water until chicken is done, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
    Remove chicken from broth. When cool, remove the skin and bones and dice chicken.
    Strain the stock and discard vegetables.
    If necessary, add enough water to make 1 quart.
