Japanese Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter (2 sticks)
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs (room temperature)
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 whole apple, peeled and grated (may add this to the white layers also, makes cake very moist)
    1 c. raisins, soaked in bourbon overnight (do not drain)
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar gradually; add vanilla. Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add the eggs, one at a time, to the batter mixture. Add flour and milk alternately using some flour last. Pour half of mixture into 2 greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 300\u00b0 until done.
