Cream Scones - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. buttermilk
1 egg
2 Tbsp. sugar
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. melted butter
1/2 c. currants
Preparation

Beat together buttermilk, egg and sugars.
Sift 3 cups flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Add 2/3 flour mixture to buttermilk and stir well.
Gradually add butter; incorporate thoroughly into mixture.
Stir in rest of flour mixture and currants; may need to add more flour.
Turn dough onto lightly floured board; knead several minutes.
Divide into 3 parts, each a circle 4 to 5-inches across.
Cut into quarters and arrange on buttered cookie sheet.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
Makes 12 scones.
