Bread Clay - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
8 slices \"day old\" white bread
1/2 c. Elmer's glue
food coloring as desired (it dries darker)
Preparation
-
Remove the crusts from the bread (crust crumbs will show up as dark spots later) and tear the slices into small pieces.
Pour the glue over the bread and mix by hand.
At first the mixture will be extremely sticky, so make sure to remove all hand jewelry.
Knead the dough vigorously for about 5 minutes or until smooth and velvety.
If dough is still sticky, clean hands and apply hand lotion or fabric softener on hands and continue kneading.
If properly kneaded, the mixture should now form beautifully into a smooth ball.
Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
If making an impression, first dust the mold with cornstarch, press the bread clay into place, then shake or lift out the dough and allow to dry on a flat surface.
