Candy Canes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. lukewarm milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 pkg. yeast
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 c. Crisco or margarine
    1 1/2 to 5 c. sifted Gold Medal flour
Preparation
    Mix together milk, salt and sugar.
    Soften yeast in a little warm water and add to mixture.
    Stir in eggs, Crisco or margarine and flour.
    Add flour in two additions, using the amount necessary to make it easy to handle.
    Knead dough until mixed.
    Dump out onto floured surface and wash bowl, then grease bowl.
    Put dough back in and turn dough over right away.
    Cover and let rise until double, then punch down gently and let rise again.
