Italian Smoked Sausage Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. smoked sausage, sliced
    1 c. onion, chopped
    2 tsp. olive oil
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
    3 1/2 c. hot water
    1 c. pasta shells (uncooked)
    2 c. chicken broth
    1 (18 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained
Preparation
    In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, brown sausage and onions in oil for 5 minutes.
    Add the tomatoes with the juice, water, pasta and broth and bring to a boil.
    Add the beans.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer until the pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.
    Just before serving, sprinkle with grated cheese.
    Serves 6.
