Sauerkraut And Tomatoes Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. canned sauerkraut
    3 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. bacon or other fat
    1 small chopped onion
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    Freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
    Drain sauerkraut well.
    Put tomatoes through a strainer. Melt the bacon or other fat.
    Add onion and stir until golden brown. Add the strained tomatoes and brown sugar.
    Add the drained sauerkraut.
    Place the mixture in a covered casserole and bake for 1 hour.
    Uncover the last 20 minutes of cooking.
    Garnish the top with crumbled crisp bacon.
