Poppy Cock - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    5 qt. popped corn
    8 1/4 oz. almonds
    10 oz. pecan halves
Preparation
    Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in heavy saucepan; bring to boil, stirring constantly.
    Boil without stirring 5 minutes; remove from heat.
    Stir in vanilla and baking soda.
    Pour mixture over corn and nuts; quickly stir until well coated.
    Pour mixture into 2 (9 x 13-inch) pans.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 until dry, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes. Remove from oven; spread apart if necessary.
    Store airtight. Makes 5 1/2 quarts.
