Country Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk (substitute 1 c. sweet milk and 1 Tbsp. vinegar)
    2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into bowl.
    Cut in shortening thoroughly.
    Stir in enough buttermilk to make a soft, fluffy dough.
    Form dough into a ball on floured board.
    Knead several times (do not overknead, just until smooth).
    Roll out 3/4 to 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut with biscuit cutter or glass.
    Bake 10 minutes at 500\u00b0.
    Yields about 1 1/2 dozen biscuits, depending on how large you make them.
