Onion And Apple Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large Bermuda type onions
    1/2-inch boiling water
    1 tsp. salt
    4 tart medium sized apples
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
    1/3 c. onion liquid
    1/3 c. butter or margarine, melted
Preparation
    Peel onions and slice about 1/4-inch thick.
    Cook 10 minutes in a covered saucepan in 1/2-inch boiling water and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt.
    Meanwhile, peel the apples and slice them 1/8-inch thick.
    Drain the onions, reserving the liquid to use later.
