Crosscut Pickle Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 lb. cucumbers, sliced
    1 1/2 c. onion, sliced
    2 large cloves garlic
    1/3 c. uniodized salt
    2 trays ice cubes
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. white vinegar
Preparation
    Wash and slice unpeeled cukes into 1/4-inch slices.
    Discard ends.
    Add onion and salt and mix.
    Put garlic cloves over top. Cover with ice cubes and let stand 3 hours or overnight.
    Drain and remove garlic cloves.
    Heat sugar, turmeric, celery seed, mustard seed and white vinegar to boiling.
    Add drained cukes and onion slices and boil 5 minutes.
    Start to count processing time as soon as water in canner returns to boil.
