Diane'S Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 c. diced carrots
    1 c. diced potatoes
    1 c. chopped cabbage
    1 c. diced celery
    1/4 c. uncooked rice
    1/4 tsp. sweet basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 (46 oz.) can tomato juice
    1 qt. water
    1 can beef broth (Campbell's)
Preparation
    Brown beef and onion in a small amount of butter in large kettle.
    Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boiling temperature, then simmer 1 1/2 hours.
    May also add green beans.
