Hopping John Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. sausage (1/2 hot and 1/2 mild), cook and drain grease
1 stick butter
2 tsp. salt
2 cans black-eyed peas, not drained
1 c. plain rice
2 c. chopped onion
1 tsp. pepper
2 cans water (cans from peas)
Preparation

Mix. Cook slowly until rice and onion are done, 1 to 3 hours.
