Sweet Pastry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    8 oz. (2 sticks) cold butter
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine flour, salt and sugar.
    Cut the butter into the flour mixture until it looks like coarse meal.
    Add the lightly beaten egg and the vanilla.
    Work until mixture will form a ball.
    If dry, add 1 or 2 teaspoons water until dough is manageable.
    Knead 5 or 6 times on counter.
    Form 3 balls.
    Wrap and chill.
    (Pastry can be refrigerated a week before using or frozen for 3 or 4 months.)
