Portuguese Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. water
    1 lb. chourico (cut in small pieces)
    2 lb. meat shank (beef)
    2 c. chopped carrots
    2 c. diced potato
    2 lb. chopped kale or cabbage
    1 chopped onion
    1 can white kidney beans (add last)
    pepper and salt to taste
Preparation
    Brown meat and onion, add water, cook until almost ready.
    Add all vegetables, cover with water.
    Cook until tender.
    Add beans, simmer for 20 minutes.
