Shreveport Pepper Steak - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. flank or round steak, cut into strips 1/2 x 1 1/2-inches
1 crushed garlic clove
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. water
2 green peppers, cut in large chunks
1 can bean sprouts, drained
1 medium onion, sliced
4 medium tomatoes, quartered
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation

Brown meat on all sides.
Add garlic, salt, pepper, ginger and sugar.
Cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.
Remove meat. Add soy sauce, green peppers, bean sprouts and onion.
Cook, covered for 5 minutes.
Move food away from center of skillet; add tomatoes and cook, covered, 5 minutes longer.
Make a smooth paste of cornstarch and water.
Add to hot mixture.
Stir gently and cook until thickened.
Stir in meat and serve with rice.
