Ingredients

2 1/2 c. walnut halves
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Butter sides of heavy 2-quart saucepan.
Heat walnuts in moderate oven (375\u00b0) for 5 minutes, stirring once.
Combine sugar, water, salt and cinnamon in heavy saucepan.
Heat and stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil.
Cook, without stirring, to soft ball stage.
Remove from heat.
Beat by hand for 1 minute or until mixture begins to get creamy.
Add vanilla and warm walnuts.
Stir gently, until nuts are well coated.
Turn out on waxed paper; separate with a fork.
