Layered Walnut Pumpkin Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. English walnuts
    1 envelope unflavored gelatin
    1/4 c. cold water
    1 can pumpkin
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    Cool Whip
    3 large eggs
    1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Chop nuts fine.
    Soften gelatin in water in pan.
    Stir in pumpkin, 1/2 cup sugar, milk, lightly beaten egg yolks, spice and salt.
    Heat to boiling, stirring.
    Turn heat very low; cook for 5 minutes, stirring.
    Remove.
    Add vanilla; cool.
    Chill until thickens slightly.
    Beat egg whites to soft peaks.
    Gradually beat in 2 tablespoons sugar; beat until stiff.
    Fold into mixture, along with nuts.
    Chill.
    Top with Cool Whip.
