Buttermilk Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1 oz. pure lemon extract
    6 egg yolks
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/4 tsp. salt
    6 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks with 1/3 cup of the buttermilk; add shortening and sugar and beat until it looks like whipped cream.
    Sift flour, soda and salt together times.
    Mix dry ingredients and remaining buttermilk with sugar mixture, alternating.
    Fold in egg whites. Then last, fold in extract.
    Bake in tube pan for 1 hour and 45 minutes at 300\u00b0.
