Polish Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 sticks margarine
    5 eggs
    2 Tbsp. butternut vanilla
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 c. chopped nuts
    10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, chopped
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs, 1 at a time.
    Add butternut vanilla, salt and milk alternately with flour.
    Finally add cherries and nuts.
    Start in cold oven.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 45 minutes in greased and floured pan.
