Sweet Pickle Sticks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    fresh cucumbers
    3 3/4 c. vinegar
    3 c. sugar (double sugar if sweeter pickles desired)
    3 Tbsp. salt
    4 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    4 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    3/4 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Use fresh cucumbers.
    Wash and cut in sticks.
    Pour boiling water over them and let stand overnight.
    Next morning, pack solidly into clean jars.
    Make a solution of remaining ingredients.
    Boil the solution for 5 minutes.
    Pour boiling hot over the cucumbers in jars.
    Put on lids, screwing band tight. Process in boiling water bath.
    Boil for 5 minutes.
    Yields 6 pint jars.
    Add green food coloring, if desired, to solution for more color.
