Ingredients

2 medium red onions, sliced
4 or 5 medium cucumbers, peeled and sliced
2 Tbsp. salt
1/3 c. white vinegar
2 Tbsp. salad oil
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 c. light sour cream
fresh or dried dill
Preparation

Measure 2 tablespoons salt into a small container.
Peel and slice the onions into a glass pie plate.
Sprinkle with some of the salt.
Peel and slice the cucumbers over the onions, sprinkling salt on each layer.
Let stand 10 minutes, then drain very well.
Mix together the vinegar, salad oil and sugar; add to the cucumber-onion mixture.
Toss to coat well.
Place in an airtight container (I use a jar).
Place a sprig of fresh dill in bottom, center and top of mixture.
Refrigerate.
